‘Am I Next?’

What more can you say at this point?

I don’t know how many times I’ve written about mass shootings over the years.

There have been so many of these atrocities over the years that the details tend to blur.

Earlier this month I wrote about the supermarket slaughter in Buffalo, NY and then—just 10 days later—we had another one on May 24 at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas.

Once again, a heavily armed, emotionally damaged young man unloaded his rage into a group of innocent people with weapons that no civilian should be able to purchase.

The shooter, who bought two AR-15s for his 18th birthday, killed 19 children and two adults.

The details coming out of Uvalde have been horrific: one child smeared the blood of her classmate on herself and pretended to be a corpse.

A teacher died using her body to shield her students. A short time after learning of his wife’s murder, the teacher’s husband died of a heart attack, leaving behind four children.

Of course, none of that stopped the NRA from holding is convention in Houston--about 300 miles from Uvalde—proudly showcasing “over 14 acres of the latest guns and gear.”

Well, we don’t know, do we? They very well could be the next ones to die in a hail of bullets and, as usual, nothing will change.

Guns were the leading cause of death for children one and older for the first time in 2020. If that doesn’t horrify you, then you’re part of the problem.

Checking for a Heartbeat

In this fetus-obsessed country, where the Supreme Court is ready to strip women of their right to choose, where Bible-thumping lunatics shriek about “life”, the firearm death rate among children continues to rise.

Texas Republicans rammed through the “Heartbeat” abortion law fast enough, but the kids at Robb Elementary were out of the womb so clearly they don’t matter.

Gov. Gregg Abbott called special legislative sessions to dismantle voting rights in his state, but still hasn’t called one to address mass shootings.

Republicans are quick to ban books in schools, but guns don’t seem to bother them.

Trump--I refuse to call him “president”--spoke at the NRA death fest and in a singularly disgusting display, mispronounced the names of the victims while a bell tolled and then did his vile fist-pumping dance.

Life’s a breeze when you're a sociopath.

Oh, and by the way, no guns were permitted at this traitors’ retreat. I wonder why?

The suggestions from the Second Amendment imbeciles for combatting this epidemic include arming teachers, stationing retired cops and soldiers at schools, and building schools to resemble penitentiaries or Bond villain lairs, complete with “mantraps” to hold shooters at bay.

That champion of scumbags, Ted Cruz, who didn’t fly off to Cancun for this particular crisis, brilliantly suggested building schools with one door.

Ask your local fire department how well that will work.

These people will do anything to avoid a fight. They blame mass shootings on movies and videogames, while gleefully eliminating virtually all legal requirements for purchasing a gun.

This never should’ve been a political issue, but it was turned into one by a group of parasites determined to stay in power no matter how many children die.

And so many of this gun loving-loons refused are anti-vaccine and anti-mask despite the appalling death rate among the unvaccinated. The GOP should get replace its elephant symbol with the Grim Reaper.

The political hacks that represent them lobby against healthcare, dismiss climate change and push stupid, failed and thoroughly debunked policies like trickle-down economics.

The economics may be trickling but the blood is pouring. Ask yourself how long do you want to live like this. Ask yourself how we can stop this madness.

And then ask yourself “Am I next?”
