The puppetry is fabulous, so as long as you can accept the simple story, you should have a great time.Rob Khttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04741955202727936194noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10214458.post-70579229299891193942012-03-13T17:27:48.410-07:002012-03-13T17:27:48.410-07:00Excellent - thanks for the review. I've been thinking of going - I enjoyed the book (work for the US publisher, found it in one of the giveaway bins at one point) but I'm just fascinated with the puppetry aspect.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10214458.post-21825700644401015882012-03-06T18:32:42.624-08:002012-03-06T18:32:42.624-08:00Oh my God, I've never met anyone who had famil...Oh my God, I've never met anyone who had family members in WW 1. And mustard gas was especially barbaric, so I could hardly blame your grandfather for not speaking about it.

That conflict has been described as a "rich man's war, poor man's fight"--an apt description for just about any war.Rob Khttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04741955202727936194noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10214458.post-69808132541647599452012-03-06T15:26:49.703-08:002012-03-06T15:26:49.703-08:00Wow.. it does sound powerful, but I imagine it wou...Wow.. it does sound powerful, but I imagine it would be much too sad for me. The twin subjects of boy and horse, both probably doomed, would be too upsetting. I have read about the First World War and it sounds like hell on earth. My Grandfather survived it, though with lungs scorched and damaged for life by mustard gas, and I think it's telling that he never, ever spoke about it.Jay at The Depp Effecthttp://www.thedeppeffect.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10214458.post-75093975896671607332012-03-05T06:25:23.801-08:002012-03-05T06:25:23.801-08:00Hey, Ron, I was thinking of Equus, too! DeMille picture had jumped off a movie screen."

WOW! I can imagine that!

I think it's so cool that the horses are actually puppets! And I know what you mean about the puppeteers becoming invisible because it was the same way when I saw the play "Equus" on Broadway back in the late 70's; you didn't even notice the horse was a man.

I just clicked over to the link you left on the play and the photos are faaaaaaaaabulous!

Thanks so much for sharing, buddy!

Have a super week!Ronhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15977027331657615697noreply@blogger.com
