This is one of my big failings; I start off all bouncy and keen and committed to doing a particular task and convinced I'll go the distance and then somehow make a mess of it and feel guilty. Over the years I've come to believe that, yes, if we approach something with love it isn't a burden, whereas we can make the most interesthing thing into a burden by hanging too much on it in the way of pressure and expectation. I kind of like your system and there are a lot of mental health professionals who have no use for New Year's resolutions.

I don't think you're unambitious at all. That chore list sounds like a good idea.

Have a great 2017!Rob Khttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04741955202727936194noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10214458.post-76725141924771201882017-01-01T19:19:07.249-08:002017-01-01T19:19:07.249-08:00Hey, Ron, Happy New Year! Let's get out there and show Picasso a thing or two!

Gratitude is such an important element to a happy life and it's been missing from my life for far too long. Now it's time for me to say thanks for all the good things in my life.

Take care, buddy! And, once again, Happy New Year!Rob Khttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04741955202727936194noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10214458.post-36324467818950809172017-01-01T16:26:38.988-08:002017-01-01T16:26:38.988-08:00Rob, I freakin' LOVE that quote from Picasso, ...Rob, I freakin' LOVE that quote from Picasso, it's brilliant!

I feel the same way about making New Year's resolutions. I think it's great to be more aware of things we would like to improve upon or achieve a better balance in certain areas of our lives, but not in an abusive manner because then it makes us feel more defeated, or as you so insightfully said, sinks us deeper in the mud.

"What I’d like to achieve is a state of striving gratitude, where I am thankful, truly thankful for everything I have--from my family to the roof over my head to the food on my table—while still working hard to make my life better."

That's it! Because when I'm focused on gratitude, it genuinely makes me feel more happy and relaxed. And I also believe that gratitude creates more gratitude.

"I finally published my novel last year and if I can scratch that sucker off the list....."

Yup, you DID it!!!

*thunderous applause*

GREAT post, buddy. And HAPPY New Year to you!

Cheers!
Ronhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15977027331657615697noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10214458.post-50051356887535001142017-01-01T13:19:13.441-08:002017-01-01T13:19:13.441-08:00I'm not sure why, but I've never been inte...I'm not sure why, but I've never been interested in goals, formal resolutions, etc. If there are things I want to do, I put it on my chore list. So, instead of saying I want to be more organized, I just write 'clean hall closet' on my list. Seems more doable, I guess.

Or maybe I'm just unambitious!Bijouxhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05788630004051883635noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10214458.post-54441792760831357942017-01-01T10:14:20.531-08:002017-01-01T10:14:20.531-08:00Here's to us, old friend.
