And about the life of a salesman.

One of my ancestors (a great-grandfather) was a salesman, or commercial traveller as they were known in England in those days. I never met him though, because he died in the war and I was born after it ended. I often wonder what it was like though, travelling about the country trying to sell goods .. must be lonely.Jay at The Depp Effecthttp://www.thedeppeffect.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10214458.post-59995596966959025312012-03-26T03:22:50.435-07:002012-03-26T03:22:50.435-07:00Yo, Ron, what's up? And it still is a very important story, even after all these years. What happened to our fathers and so many other men from that generation is terrible, but we clearly haven't learned anything from our mistakes. Have a great week, buddy!Rob Khttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04741955202727936194noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10214458.post-10984113382243274282012-03-25T20:23:19.165-07:002012-03-25T20:23:19.165-07:00Rob, I can't tell you how much I enjoy reading...Rob, I can't tell you how much I enjoy reading these posts you share about the shows you see in NYC. It's so great to know that there are people like you who appreciate and respect live theater!

" until Saturday, when I went to see Phillip Seymour Hoffman take on the role of the doomed salesman, and it hit me harder than I was expecting."

OMG....I bet Phillip was amazing in that role. I so enjoy his acting!

I adore this play and have seen it several times while I was living in Florida. I also saw the movie with Dustin Hoffman and really enjoyed it.

You made a very good point. Even though this play is dated, the topic is also a harsh reflection of whats going on in today's corporate battlefield. You're absolutely right!

So enjoyed reading about your father and his job. You and your father had the same type relationship me and father had. And pretty much the same thing happened to my father with his job too. He got very depressed when his business folded.

Excellent post, buddy!

As usual!

Have a grrrreat week!Ronhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15977027331657615697noreply@blogger.com
