But now we have women fighting in wars.

You're right about war being a big business. As long as there's profit in war, we'll have wars with more lives ruined, more generations scarred.

Take care.

Rob Khttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04741955202727936194noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10214458.post-6608790626670233262015-02-15T17:44:36.300-08:002015-02-15T17:44:36.300-08:00I have missed anniversaries of my parents birthday...I have missed anniversaries of my parents birthdays or deaths, too. Some years are easier than others.

My father served in the Navy. I wonder what he would have thought about the wars we're involved in today. Growing up, I don't remember him saying too much about his time in service. Being a girl, I don't think he'd have wanted me to know about some things anyway.

Such a powerful post, Rob. I agree, war should be avoided at all costs. It's big business now though. Maybe it always was. I guess it just seems more so in present day because we can find so much information online about about all aspects of it.

I'm sure your dad would say you have nothing to be sorry for. You honored him much more with this post than going to church on the anniversary day I think. I remember a friend telling me once that after his father died, he mourned him for a long, long time, but over time, he said he found he thought about it less and less. He said it's sad because you want to think about him all the time, but in a way it's good, too, because you can remember him with a little less pain.Stephanie Farishttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10461865229341760836noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10214458.post-54347214159359485602015-01-26T13:08:03.268-08:002015-01-26T13:08:03.268-08:00Thank you so much, my friend! And one that strongly resonates today, with all the anger and war going on presently.

"That’s what war produces, monsters and corpses, because if you’re not one then you will quickly become the other. And that’s why war should be avoided at all costs because even the survivors will be scarred for life."

I can't imagine what soldiers have gone through emotionally and psychologically, in the aftermath of being at war and having had to kill people. It has to be devastating and something that stays with them forever.

"Soldiers may pull the triggers, but so much happens before we reach that moment. They’re the last link in a very long, very twisted chain."

Amen!

Thank you for sharing this post because it's something we all needed to hear.

Have a super week, buddy!Ronhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15977027331657615697noreply@blogger.com
